KOQ Round #2: UAB

KOQ 2006 Year Three, Round #2, Ugly Ass Bikes HQ

Round #2 took place at the UAB HQ this weekend. A strong turnout with about 40 riders. We almost didn’t have a flatland event, and we might not have one at the last two events, but after the signup deadline, three riders decided to do it for the prizes.
Flatland:
1) Jason Plourde
2) Mike
3) Prasheel Gopal

Am, which is sort of the intermediate class, saw Chris Birch being kicked out for being too good. Then we forgot to sign him up for Expert. Oops.
Amateur:
1) Nick
2) Jay
3) Dillon
4) Dominic
5) Zack
6) Tony
7) Laurent
8) Mike

The expert class was tight. Indeed, a three way tie for first place. We also had a six-man Pro / too-good-for-expert demo.
Expert:
1) Craig 118
1) Charles Deschamps 118
1) Ted 118
4) Brandon 88
5) Claude 78
6) Antho 68
6) Dewey 68
6) Oli Brunelle 68
9) Jimmy 38
9) Freak 38

Here it is

Here is the first shot of the lavender version of my Heaton II. Changes include a MacNeil push-fit BB, and about six inches of Animal linear cable in green (I've already re-simplified the dual cable crap I tried earlier in the week). New brown and black Fat Capital MacNeil seat to be installed next week.
It looks like flatland will be cancelled for the King Of Quebec series, due to lack of interest (and scheduling conflicts with more important flat events). Oh well.

Back in Lavender

My bike is Lavender-coloured again. With brown forks and bars, green MacNeil Push-Fit BB and green Animal dual lower cables. Fancy.
I'm still fighting the BB, but I still think it's genius. I grinded 1/20th of a mm off my ti spindle to make it work. Built in suspension! Had the crank arm too close to the chainstay, taking the first chunk out of the paint.
My rear brake is so complicated now: Tech 77, SST Hardcore upper (custom size #59), Snafu Mobeus detangler, 1664 coated inner lower cables, Animal Linear green outer lower cables, Odyssey London Mod, SST DCA, Magic Brake, Hombre Fiesta Kit. Jeebus. weighs 20g more than my normal set up. Not sure if it works better yet. What a collosal waste of my valuable time. (BMX in general, or my new brake set-up?)

KOQ Points

KOQ 2006 #1 Trois Rivieres

The first round (of four) of the King Of Quebec BMX Freestyle series took place two weeks ago in Trois Rivieres. I suppose I need to publish the results, so here they are. It should be noted that Olivier Rousseau was listed by Beru as the winner, but he evidently paid the judges off, so he was DQ’d. So, adapted from David’s results, here are the results for the KOQ, year #3, round #1:
(p.s.: this is a bit sketchy, as some of these guys are pro, no? I have a feeling that we will have to do some creative math by the end. But it’s about participation, so I wasn’t going to turn anybody away!)
