Didn't I quit in 1984?

2009 marks 25 years of quitting BMX!
The OS reunion at Woodward West was so fun. Spent about 45 minutes talking about my scholarly research with Bob Haro on the Saturday night. Stephan Prantl, Aaron Huff, Chris Gack, Voelker, Blyther, Nourie, Fiola, Lee Reynolds, Shad, Todd Anderson, and on and on.
I rode my new chrome Kink with my graphite Tuffs on it as my Profile hubs had not arrived. Now those wheels are built up, and it is ON.
Working on getting a set of 9t cassette graphite Tuffs.
Tried the KHE Anchor bars out - worst FAIL ever. Well, not ever. Recently. Worst fail goes to the Odyssey Twisted PCs when I tried them out in the late 1990s and they broke in half in 20 minutes. I assume that they work better a decade later.
Eclat levers are about to fail in less than two weeks.
Demolition U brakes seem OK.
D'Arse-y Sack-hoochie won't make me a pair of custom Blazer forks with 990 mounts. It's a good thing that I am fond of his wife and daughter...
Tweaked my back on Saturday riding Wallace Emerson with the kiddies. Fun until then, though.

Old school reunion

Steve Swope is throwing an invite-only, old school reunion at Woodward West Mar 20 - 22, and I'm going.

Fly in to LAX late Friday night after teaching until 3pm in Toronto, drive into the desert, ride and hang out with my 80s heroes and 1990s / 2000s friends Saturday, dinner with Enns and Portia Sunday night, then fly home by Monday at 9am. Short and sweet.
As I am waiting to hear back from McMaster University with regard to a tenure-track professorship, this trip will either be my celebration or consolation. Either way, it's BMX heaven for 48 hours. Especially looking forward to see Aaron Huff, Shad, and Big Island.
Now I just have to get my new bike done. Matt Coplon shipped out the Profile hubs today from Florida, and I'm still waiting on a rim, tires and bars/stem. The last item scares most people, but I'm going to give the KHE Anchor bar/stem combo a chance. I wouldn't put them on Osato's bike, but for nibbling on ramps they should be OK. I hope.
Thanks again to Zack at Kink for the frame, Matt at Profile, Chris at Core, and my brothers at Ten Pack / MacNeil for the rest.
